The report, which reveals some surprising facts about India's gaming industry, claims that more than half of India's gamers hail from small towns. According to the report, 56 percent of gamers in 2022 came from small towns.
According to this report, 40 percent of Indian gamers are women. They are associated with the gaming industry and force the boys to accept defeat. Also, according to the 'State of India Gaming Report 2022', women are, in fact, spending more time than men on these online games. While men spend an average of 10.2 hours playing online games, women spend 11.2 hours per week playing online games. According to the survey, female gamers generally prefer casual games and strategy games, while males mainly prefer to play action adventure or real money gaming.
The report also states that most Indian gamers are between 18-30 years old. 64 percent of them regularly make in-game purchases from gaming apps to enhance their gaming experience. More than half of gamers have paid from a gaming app in the last 12 months.
Meanwhile, e-sports is one of the most popular businesses on gaming platforms. Now that attracts more and more users. The number of e-sports players in India was 1.5 lakh in 2021. In 2022, it increased four times to 6 lakhs. The Indian eSports industry generated $40 million in 2022. It is expected to reach $140 million by 2027. The number of players increased two and a half times in the next five years. The report says that it will reach 1.5 million by 2027. Now the online gaming industry in India is worth 2.7 billion dollars which will become 5 billion dollars by 2027.
