India's first solar dome or dome was inaugurated in Newtown, Kolkata. This dome is built on 2.89 acres of land. The dome is 55 meters high and has a diameter of 46 meters. The exterior of this dome is made of beautiful solar panels. At first glance from a distance, you might mistake it for a glass house.
It is known that all types of electronics inside this dome, ie lights, fans, computers, etc., will run on solar energy. The solar panel installed outside this dome is capable of generating 180 kilowatts of electricity.
The interior design of this dome is also surprising. Inside this dome are some galleries equal to the height of an eight-story house. Tourists visiting Eco Park can enter this gallery for free. Through this gallery, they can visualize the beauty of Eco Park.
India's first solar dome has been constructed in a joint initiative by HIDCO and State Power Distribution Corporation. The advice behind the construction of this dome was from a famous company in Switzerland. However, the majority of the cost of making this dome has been borne by the State Electricity Distribution Corporation. Apart from this, the urban development department also provided financial support. This solar dome in Newtown is the first in India. This solar-powered dome makes the smart city of Newtown a little bit smarter.
