Gautam Adani made his name in the country's telecom business. Adani Data Networks has received the license to provide telecom services across the country. Adani Group recently participated in India's 5G spectrum auction. It is not known when the company's services will be launched commercially even after receiving the Centre's approval.
According to sources, Adani company has received permission to start telecom services in the entire country. Adani Data Networks received the Centre's approval on Monday this week. The company bought 400 MHz spectrum at a cost of Rs 212 crore in the recently concluded 5G spectrum auction. Adani Group took this decision mainly to support various data centers and other businesses of the company.
Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel has already launched the first 5G network in the country. The company has launched 5G services in 8 cities of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Varanasi, and Siliguri. Airtel 5G Plus services will be available in almost all major cities of the country by March 2023, the company said.
Mukesh Ambani and Jio are not far behind. The Mumbai-based company has started testing 5G services in 4 cities of the country. Apart from Kolkata, Mukesh Ambani's company has started a high-speed network in Delhi, Mumbai, and Varanasi. Jio claims that the company's 5G network will offer internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps. However, for the time being, some selected customers are being given the opportunity to use 5G on the basis of invitation, according to Jio.
Jio said there will be no need to buy a new SIM to use the 5G network. Airtel also announced the same. At the annual general meeting of Reliance Industries this year, Reliance Group Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that the company's 5G network will be launched in several cities of the country before Diwali. He informed me that the work of 5G expansion is going on rapidly in the whole country. The Mumbai-based company is targeting a 5G rollout across the country by December 2023. Reliance Jio will spend Tk 2 lakh crore to expand the 5G network infrastructure in the country.
Meanwhile, Airtel has informed us that the 5G network expansion will be completed in all major cities of the country by April 2023. The Gurugram-based company is targeting to roll out a 5G network across the country by April 2024.
