He said that the government will invest more than Rs 75,000 crore in this project.

Prime Minister Modi said that a significant amount of subsidy will be provided under this scheme. Like other schemes of the Modi government, the subsidy amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Under this scheme, a huge discount will also be given on taking loans from banks. The central government will ensure that no expense is burdened on the people. All the beneficiaries of the scheme will be brought under one online portal. In order to popularize this scheme, Municipalities in urban areas and Panchayats in rural areas will be encouraged to promote installation of rooftop solar panels in their respective areas. According to the Prime Minister, this project will increase the income of the common man, reduce electricity bills and create more employment. The Prime Minister urged all the citizens of the country, especially the youth, to apply for the benefit of this scheme.

> Free electricity: Up to 300 units of free electricity will be available every month.

> Electricity bill will be reduced: Even if the electricity consumption is more than 300 units, the bill will be reduced.

> Employment Generation: The project will generate new employment opportunities.

> Maintaining environmental balance: The use of solar energy will help reduce environmental pollution.

• The application process for this project:

>> Registration can be done at pmsuryaghar.gov.in

>> State, electricity distribution company, customer number, mobile number and email address have to be given.

>> Login with the user number and mobile number and apply for the rooftop solar panel.

>> The power distribution company will examine and approve whether it is possible to install solar panels on the roof.

>> After getting the approval, the solar plant will have to be installed by vendors registered with the power distribution company.

>> After installing the solar power plant, you have to apply for the meter by submitting its details.

>> After installation of the meter and inspection of the power distribution company, a commissioning certificate will be issued on the portal.

>> After getting the commissioning certificate, you have to submit your bank account details and a photo of a cancelled cheque on the portal.

>> The subsidy amount will be credited to your bank account within 30 days.
