Mahindra is set to launch the electric version of the Thar, the Thar.E

Mahindra & Mahindra recently unveiled the 5-door Ther.E concept as well as concept models of the latest tractor range based on the Scorpio N SUV at their grand #FutureScape showcase in South Africa.  Mahindra's concept electric car is based on the NGLO-P1 platform.

• Lightweight body construction and extended battery capacity

 Ther.E will feature a lightweight body construction and increased battery capacity.  The electric SUV concept has a wheelbase of 2776 mm to 2976 mm with low overhang.  The company has increased the tire diameter and ground clearance of this SUV to 300mm.  Mahindra claims that the off-roading capabilities of this new 5-door Thar.E will also be outstanding.  Which will outperform competitors in terms of approach angle, departure angle, ramp-over angle and water wading ability.  The design and styling of the 5-door Thar.E concept is different from the current Thar.

• Ther.E design

Talking about its design elements, it gets a square front with a retro-styled stance, a rectangular grille, a redesigned Hummer-like front bumper and a smaller windshield.  The offroad concept SUV features two square LED DRL signatures, a flat roof and huge wheel off-road tires.  At the rear are LED taillamps, a black-out profile and rear tailgate integrated spare wheel.

• Mahindra will also bring four electric SUVs

The company also revealed the launch dates for its four upcoming electric SUVs- XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05 and BE.07.  First up will be the Mahindra XUV.e8, the electric version of the XUV700, which will hit the roads in December 2024.  After that, XUV.e9 will be launched in April 2025, BE.05 in October 2025 and BE.07 in April 2026.

The Mahindra Thar Electric can be a great option to meet the demand for electric SUVs in the Indian market.  It is a powerful and efficient SUV that is also suitable for off-roading.  The launch of Thar.E will be an important step in the development of electric vehicles in India.
